Dr. Mohamed El-Sayed, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, warned about the risks of using artificial hair transplants, emphasizing that they can cause scarring of the scalp, making them a medically unsafe option.<\/p>\n
Dr. El-Sayed explained that hair transplant procedures are typically performed to treat cases of genetic baldness in both men and women, following an evaluation by a specialized dermatologist. This assessment includes examining the bald area and conducting blood tests to ensure the presence of essential vitamins and minerals that support dense and healthy hair growth.<\/p>\n
He noted that transplanted hair gradually begins to grow naturally, with noticeable improvements in density within a year after the procedure. The hair can be treated normally just one month after transplantation whether on the scalp or beard in terms of styling or shaving.<\/p>\n
Dr. El-Sayed stressed that hair transplantation relies on transferring natural hair follicles from the patient\u2019s own body to ensure hair grows naturally and harmoniously with the original hair pattern. He pointed out that around 50% of men experience baldness, compared to a lower percentage among women.<\/p>\n
He added that there are several ways to manage genetic baldness, including medications such as minoxidil, which is used to reduce hair loss and stimulate growth. However, he emphasized the importance of consulting a doctor before starting any treatment.<\/p>\n
He also mentioned that laser therapy can be used to stimulate the scalp for hair growth, alongside adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes balanced nutrition, avoiding smoking, and reducing stress all of which help minimize hair loss.<\/p>\n
Dr. El-Sayed confirmed that certain cases are not suitable for hair transplantation, such as patients with hypothyroidism, autoimmune disorders, or high HbA1c levels. Hair transplantation can generally be considered from the age of 18.<\/p>\n
He concluded by highlighting the importance of adhering to prescribed medications and instructions after the procedure, as well as ongoing follow-up with a specialist for at least a year to ensure the success of the transplant and achieve the best results.<\/p>\n
